Everything looks different when
you are 2000 meters high

Teide Stargazing: Why the North Star is so special? We all know we live in a planet called Earth, but, do you know the difference between a planet and a satellite? Where does the name of the famous Andromeda Galaxy comes from? Black holes seem to be dangerous, but, do we really know what they are? The Universe is as immense as the amount of questions around that comes with it. That is the reason why StarExcursions wants to solve them for you. To achieve that goal, we have designed an excursion to El Teide, where you will be able to observe the stars in unique conditions: an amazing experience, in which learning and having fun coexist. Its name? Teide Stargazing.

Along with Hawaii and the Atacama Desert (Chile), the Canary Islands are one of the best places to study the sky. This is because of their ideal environmental conditions. The proof of this statement is the presence of technologically leading telescopes on these areas. The altitude that Las Cañadas del Teide has, prevents them from light pollution, and this is the key to study the sky in a proper way: a magnificent, extraordinary landscape. Tempting, right?

You will enjoy Teide Stargazing for hours

The visit is not reduced to what is present when you go to El Teide. StarExcursions has tourist guides with large astronomic knowledge, which will offer you the chance to understand complex concepts as the general principles that rule the universe. You will be able to discover what a light year is, the requirements needed to consider a planet as such, etc. Any doubt you might have will be instantly answered, and it could lead to an interesting discussion regarding the knowledge about the universe.

But this is not the end of it. After the chat has finished, which is 70-90 minutes long, you will receive a list of website links. With them, you will have access to accurate astronomic information. Furthermore, you will be able to download free and very useful computer programs, such as sky simulators or moon atlas. In addition to that, our tourist guide will give you an astronomic representation of what you just saw seen that night.

teide stargazingThe global length of the excursion Teide Stars is about 3.5 to 4 hours long. It will depend on the time invested in the sky observation. We strongly recommend you to bring warm clothing, especially if you come during winter. Even though the Canary Islands have an amazing weather, we will be 2000 meters above sea level, so keeping our bodies warm in these conditions is not easy. But don’t worry: our tour guide always brings blankets, in order to assure everybody’s wellness. Don’t doubt ir: after this experience, your relation with the sky won’t ever be the same.
